My dear fellow Australians. Having now been to Australia, I've realised that for most of my life I've been un-Australian. And when I should have been eating more lamb, have adopted a soap avoiding, hippy, left leaning, liberal, vegetarian, tree hugging approach to life.
Well no more. I've decided to stop rooting around (in the fridge for tofu sausages :-) ditch the baggy trousers - and throw a couple of chops on the barbie - grab a cold one from the Eskie - and celebrate Australia day. In fact - everyone should celebrate Australia day - every day. Don't be un-Australian - serve lamb on Australia day.
Sponsored by the Australia Day Party.
For those who think I've lost it - check out this (genuine) advert for Australian Lamb.
Awesome.
But on a serious note:
I've really enjoyed my time in Australia. Thanks to everyone whose given me a bed, taken me out for meals, and made it a trip to remember.
You can't beat spending time with friends - and that sums up my time in Australia. Every day on the Gold Coast and Perth have been highlights of the trip - perfect days.
And the rest of Australia I've seen is pretty good too. In fact, it's not like the stereotype image of neighbours, or a dead brown wilderness filled with snakes and crocs. There's plenty of culture going on, the weather's perfect (except for Melbourne), and the people are friendly and down to earth.
If only the beer was warm and flat...oh well - you can't have everything :-)
Go there - you won't be disappointed.
